Napoli v Inter Betting Preview, Odds & Tips
- Date: 19/05/19
- Time: 19:30
- Venue: Stadio San Paulo
Inter’s Champions League hopes had looked all secured a couple of months ago but results since then have been up and down and so there is still a chance they could fall out of the top 4.
With two games left, they are four points clear of their city rivals, Milan, so a point here would officially see them qualify but they come up against a Napoli side who have been incredibly good at home in the past couple of years.
Napoli have had a quiet season in which they haven’t been able to keep up with Juventus but have been far and away the best team after the Old Lady. They are 10 points clear of Inter in third, so they have nothing but pride to play for.
These games often see little in terms of goals, with the last four league meetings being settled by either a single goal or no goal at all.
Lorenzo Insigne has a muscular problem and will not feature here but he will be the only absentee.
Marcelo Brozovic and Danilo D’Ambrosio return to the side after seeing out their respective suspensions. Matteo Politano and Stefan de Vrij are both doubtful and are unlikely to be risked.
Potential Napoli Starting XI: Meret; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Callejon, Allan, Fabian Ruiz, Zielinski; Milik, Mertens
Potential Inter Starting XI: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Miranda, Skriniar, Asamoah; Brozovic, Vecino; Candreva, Nainggolan, Perisic; Martinez
Head To Head
- In the 39 games they have played against each other, Napoli have won 14 and Inter 16, with 9 draws.
Key Stats & Facts
- Napoli are undefeated in 21 of their last 23 Serie A games at home.
- Inter have kept five clean sheets in their last seven games against Napoli in all competitions.
- Napoli – 6/4
- Draw – 5/2
- Inter – 2/1
This game is one of those that both sides will not want to avoid. Napoli won’t want their last home game of the season to end in defeat to a direct top 4 rival, whereas Inter know a point will secure their Champions League place tomorrow.
Whilst the head-to-head would suggest goals won’t be on offer, I am going to go against that trend.
Napoli’s season has been over for a while and they have little to play for and recently at home, they have been leaking goals. They have conceded two goals in three of their last five at the San Paulo and have conceded at least once in seven of their last nine home games.
As for Inter, they have been scoring for fun on the road of late, scoring ten goals in their last four away league games and have managed three or more in three or more in four of their last six games away from Milan.
With that being said, I am keen to back Inter here at 13/10 to score over 1.5 goals. They have the incentive to score to ensure they don’t lose and their form suggests they will get at least one.
