Atalanta take on Roma on Sunday afternoon looking for a victory to take them above their visitors into 5th place in the table.
Both sides come into the game in good form with Atalanta having won their last 3 games in all competitions and Roma having won their last 4 in all competitions.
The last game between these two sides ended in a 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olympico back in August. Goals have been a feature of games between these two with both sides finding the back of the net in 5 out of the last 6 encounters between them. Scoring goals hasn’t been hard for the home side this season; they are top scorers in Serie A with 44 goals. Despite being prolific in front of goal this season the home side have struggled defensively, they have conceded 27 goals which is the most in the top half and they are also without a clean sheet in their last 6 games.
As I mentioned earlier, Roma are in good form of late and they have only lost 1 game in their last 6 games, but their away form has been an issue, the Romans have just 1 win from 6 on the road but they have found the back of the net in all but 3 away games so far this season. They could find things difficult again on Sunday, but they’ll be heartened by Atalanta’s seemingly leaky defence.
Roma have question marks over several players including Perotti and De Rossi.
Atalanta will be without Adnan Ali but otherwise have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Potential Atalanta Starting XI: Berisha, Toloi, Djimsiti, Mancini, Hateboer, De Roon, Pasalic, Castagne, Gomez, Zapata, Ilicic
Potential Roma Starting XI: Olsen, Karsdorp, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov, Cristante, Pellegrini, Under, Zaniolo, Kluivert, Dzeko
Head To Head
- Both teams have scored in 8 of Roma’s last 10 Serie A visits to Atalanta.
Key Stats & Facts
- Roma haven’t won consecutive Serie A away matches at Atalanta since 2001.
- Atalanta 23/20
- Draw 11/4
- Roma 12/5
Previous games between these two sides have seen plenty of goals scored and I think we can expect more of the same on Sunday. Both teams to score is 1/2 (SportPesa) and with this landing in 8 out of the last 10 meetings between the two sides I feel confident that we can see this land again.
Roma’s away form hasn’t been great this season with only 3 wins away from home all season and they’ll be up against a confident Atalanta side. I fancy the home team to get the better of the Romans and Atalanta to win and both teams to score at 11/4 (Betfair) takes my eye.
Both sides are evenly matched but I’m not keen on backing Roma with their recent away record. They’ll also be up against inform Duvan Zapata who has 13 goals in his last 7 games and managed to bag 2 goals against Juventus in their last home match. The Colombian is 21/5 (Unibet) to score first in this one and I think we should stick with the hot hand.
Wirral born sports fanatic who takes a keen interest in football, cricket, horse racing, NFL and Rugby Union. Over the years I have been put through the ringer on many occasions by Tranmere Rovers. Followed Tranmere for 15 years and never seen much success - that is until James Norwood's goal sent the Super White Army into dream land on 12/05/18. I've never seen a goal mean so much to so many people and so is without a doubt my best moment supporting Rovers.
