Barcelona v Levante Copa del Rey Betting Preview, Odds & Tips

Barcelona host Levante in the second leg of their Copa Del Rey last 16 fixture looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit. Barca are clear favourites in the betting at 1/8 and on paper they should get past Levante with ease. Levante aren’t a push over on the road and have won at the Bernabaeu this season, so they’ll be confident of getting a result at the Nou Camp against the holders.
The first-leg defeat was a big shock to Barca and manager Ernesto Valverde could look to bring back some of his first-choice team in order to get through to the next round. Suarez and Messi were rested last time, but they could start on Thursday night. It’s hard to fully know what lineup we’ll get from Barca but if Messi starts you would be looking to back him in a few bets considering his performance last time he played against Levante. Messi is 15/8 (Bet365) to open the scoring on Thursday night.
Only Bottom placed side Huesca have conceded more goals in La Liga than Levante this term and with Barcelona having crushed Levante with a full strength side away from home in the league you can imagine that goals will be on the cards for the home side. Barcelona -3 on the handicap is 6/4 (Bet365) and you’d feel confident of the home side scoring more than 3 goals to beat the handicap.
Levante have been in good form away from home and have managed to get themselves on the score sheet in 8 of their last 9 games away from home, this included a 2-1 victory against Real Madrid. I can’t see Levante being able to keep out this Barca side which means their only hope of qualification is to find the back of the net. Both teams to score is 10/11 (Bet365) and Barca can concede goals at home, even Leonesa managed to get on the score sheet against them in the last round of the competition.
Potential Barcelona Starting XI: Cillessen, Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba, Arthur, Rakitic, Vidal, Coutinho, Messi, Suarez
Potential Levante Starting XI: Aitor, Postigo, Chema, Cabaco, Coke, Prcic, Campana, Simon, Rochina, Mayoral, Boateng
Head To Head
- The last meeting between these two sides in the Copa Del Rey saw Barcelona run out 9-2 winners on aggregate
Key Stats & Facts
- Levante have scored in 8 of their last 9 away matches in all competitions.
- Lionel Messi has 8 goals in his last 6 games including a hat trick in the last game he played against Levante.
- Barcelona 2/7
- Draw 10/1
- Levante 30/1
Levante do hold the advantage coming into this tie but Barcelona are expected to field a very strong team and that should see the hosts go through to the next round comfortably.
If Lionel Messi takes the field it could be a long night for the visitors with the form that he’s in. I expect Barca to progress comfortably.
