Can Chelsea do the double over Liverpool twice in a week after the blues dumped out the mighty Liverpool in the League cup earlier in the week?
That may have been the league cup, but some of the bigger teams seem to have their priorities elsewhere in todays era and Liverpool have a good chance to return the due and take the three points back up the M6. Chelsea were held to a goal-less draw in a London Derby so will be under some pressure to get a result but go in as the underdogs into the game.
For such a top end bout, Liverpool go off as favourites like they did against Spurs at Wembley. Chelsea will have the slight advantage playing a day later and at home in European competition next week, whilst Liverpool have an away trip to Napoli. At this stage in the season the test is really on sides to maintain a two games a weeks attitude adapting to it to see how resilient they are.
Marco van Ginkel is ruled out for Chelsea, while Maurizio Sarri is sweating on the fitness of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen for the welcome of Liverpool. Should the latter fail to prove their fitness in time, Gary Cahill could partner David Luiz at the heart of the defence. Olivier Giroud can be expected to be given the nod ahead of Alvaro Morata in attack.
Virgil van Dijk is expected to overcome a chest issue to start alongside Joe Gomez in defence. However, Divock Origi, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all miss out. All in all, Jurgen Klopp should continue with an XI that has made a 100% start to the Premier League season, with the only real concern over who starts in midfield between Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson.

This tie will surely attract punters to lean on goals going in. Shrewd punters will take on Liverpool around the 6/4 mark, so around the 40% chance of taking the three points home. Punter may have the both teams to score yes marked on the coupon and at 1/2 goes off short.
The half with most goals may be the bet to take on with the sample data of the season suggesting 64.2% of Chelsea league games has seen the highest scoring half to be in the second half. Liverpool in respect are 57.2%. The odds imply a 12/5 shot for the first half to be the highest scoring, and 21/20 for the second half.
With the danger being the tie at 27/10 is always a risk. However, the percentages in the stats suggest the second half does net more goals than the first and have to think, with Liverpool on the road may take sometime to break the deadlock. Of course, this bet bases the assumption there will be at least a goal and preferably a 0-0 half time score-line to base us in pole position for the second half to find a winner.
With all bar a small handful of layers taking an odds-on position, Betfred are 21/20 on this and worth a small interest.
