Popular Dutch Open Betting Markets
With futures, you bet on a player to win the competition outright. Typical futures offer hefty payouts, with lines that contain the golfer’s name followed by his odds. The bet is uncomplicated to use, although your choice has to win the championship if your stake is to win – you can even split your wager between two different players. Moreover, you can double, or split your stake, turning it into an each-way bet.

Winner’s Nationality Betting
Most bookies offer betting markets for the winner’s nationality, rather than a specific player to win the tournament. So, if you decide on Spain, any Spanish player who wins the competition means your bet pays out.

Top 5, 10, or 20 Finish Betting
Another bet type is wagering on players to finish the tournament in the top 5, 10, or 20 spots. Your bet will win if your player is among the senior positions. While not the same bet, it is similar to an each way bet because your pick does not need to win in order to generate a payout. Instead, they need to finish inside the first 5, 10 or 20 players according to your bet. Plus, because of the size of the field for most golf events, you can still get very good odds on top end finishes with most bookies.

Hole-in-one betting is when you wager on any player to land the ball in the hole with a single shot from the tee. This is a unique achievement and definitely not one you see every day. If anything, a hole in one is a fluke shot as you simply cannot aim with that accuracy. However, when it does occur, it is a thing of golfing beauty. The odds are typically high; however, it is a somewhat rare occurrence.

Although betting on futures is essentially choosing one player to win the tournament, with a matchup bet you are wagering on a named player to score lower points than another chosen player. The bet type is generally for one golfer against another, and it may even feature a trio of players.

Tournament Structure for the Dutch Open
The Dutch Open is part of the European Tour and has no fixed venue.
The 2021 tournament took place at the Bernardus Golf Clubhouse and course, which is located at Deutersestraat, AW Cromvoirt. It is a unique course in the heart of Brabant, designed by architect Kyle Phillips. The course strikes a balance between players’ and nature’s demands, with Phillips having created picturesque golf courses around the world renowned for their visual appeal and durability.
The Bernardus course is designed to be a challenging one on all levels. They are intended to be experienced with all the senses by blending soft grassy waves, purple heather in bloom, and organic water along with sand obstacles that form visual landscapes. Bernardus is a newly constructed, 18-hole course southwest of Hertogenbosch, which was initiated by Dutch entrepreneur Robert van der Wallen.
The Dutch Open changes place on the golfing calendar with the BMW PGA Championship, Wentworth.
We will add more detail here about the 2022 venue after it has been confirmed.
History of the Dutch Open Golf Tournament
The inaugural Dutch Open took place in 1912 at the Haagsche course in the Netherlands, with Englishman George Pannell winning that first event. The event didn’t reoccur until 1915, when, once again, it was held at Haagsche. On that occasion, winner Gerry del Court van Krimpen beat Englishmen Henry Burrows and Ernest Kettley to lift the trophy on home ground. After that, the tournament took place there every year until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939.
The competition resumed in 1945 after a six-year hiatus. The tournament has been a fixture in the yearly golf calendar, with the exception of 2020, when it was cancelled due to the pandemic. Despite being shifted around the schedule to different time slots, it has always been played at the beginning of September ever since 2010.
The Dutch Open has utilised various courses around the Netherlands. The Hilversumsche Golf Club hosted thirty tournaments, the Kennemer Golf & Country Club hosted 23, and the Royal Haagsche Golf & Country Club hosted 20 tournaments each. None of the other venues has hosted more than ten tournaments.
From 1981 to 1990, and from 2004 to 2020, the tournament was known as the KLM Open, named after its longest main and title sponsor, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. However, after the latter took the decision to drop their sponsorship duties ahead of the 2021 event, it reverted back to its original name: the Dutch Open.

As with all Euro events, Race to Dubai points are on offer. This is one of the last few tourneys before the points are calculated and tallied up to see who gets to head to Dubai for the season finale, and who is this season’s best player.
