Monday night hands us a relegation 6 pointer up North as Huddersfield take on Fulham. Both teams are desperate for a win which should lead to an entertaining game. The home side have so far fallen short of the performances that kept them in the Premier League last season but they can take encouragement from their recent performance against Liverpool where they looked a lot more organised and looked to pose a little bit more of a threat.

Fulham have also been disappointing this season with just one win so far and they come into this game of the back a thrashing at home to Bournemouth. Last season Fulham gained a lot of plaudits for the football that they played and it was said by many that their football would be suited to the Premier League. Their summer recruitment was, on paper, very good but the Cottagers have yet to click this season and in their last outing they looked very disjointed.

It will be interesting to see how this game pans out one bet I do like is for both teams to score at 13/15. Both sides need a result here and Huddersfield have to start picking up wins at some point. I can’t see the Terriers settling for a draw and I don’t think Fulham are good enough off the ball to keep out a direct attacking side like the one they’ll be facing on Monday night.

Another angle I like is for Aaron Mooy to score at any time in the match, its best priced 18/5 with Unibet and I think it’s a big price for a player who is the attacking force from midfield. Mooy grabbed four goals last season and I think he could get on top of a soft looking Fulham midfield.

Having looked at the Card market I am also tempted to punt on Denis Odoi to be shown a card in the match. Odoi picked up 9 yellow cards last season and 2 red cards, his discipline has improved this season as he has only picked up 1 booking across 8 games but I think with Fulham most likely being on the front foot for most of the game he could get caught out on the counter- attack. He is 11/4 to be carded.

Team News

Both sides will have near full squads to choose from with only Daniel Williams missing out for Huddersfield and only Left-Back Joe Bryan missing out for the visitors

Potential Huddersfield Starting XI: Lossl, Durm, Jorgensen Schindler, Lowe, Mbenza, Billing, Hogg, Mooy, Pritchard, Depoitre

Potential Fulham Starting XI: Bettinelli, Fosu-Mensah, Odoi, Ream, Le Marchand, Seri, Cairney, Kamara, Schurrle, Sessegnon, Mitrovic

Head To Head

Fulham are unbeaten against Huddersfield in their last 10 meetings, a run that stretches back to 1999.

Key Stats & Facts

  • Fulham have picked up the joint lowest points away from home in the league (1).
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 80 % of Fulham’s games this season.

Betting Odds

  • Huddersfield 13/10
  • Draw 5/2
  • Fulham 9/4

The Verdict

This actually could turn into a very entertaining game with this being a great opportunity for both sides to pick up an important win. Huddersfield will need to get back to their industrious best if they are to overturn a Fulham side who are still a dangerous prospect if they get it right. I think goals at both ends will be on the cards for Monday night.

Recommended Bets
