With Klopp having a Champions League decider in mind, challenging for the title also, surely the MO of this game is to get this done and dusted early on and this is what Burnley can use to their advantage and frustrate the Liverpool attack.
Liverpool were not that convincing in their derby game against Everton and have failed to score in three of the last five. On another note Klopp’s men have not conceded either, which brings into question PRO Liverpool win bets for this encounter. Burnley on the other hand have lost the last two and are sailing close to the win in 16th place. Lastly, Burnley have one win in the last six head to head.
It is likely that Oxlade Chamberlain will continue to heal up and Roberto Firmino battling for a place after playing in the last game.
Jurgen Klopp will need to consider his strike force via the recent run of results, but in midfield could have Keita at his disposal could add some spice in the middle
The local trip may result in being without Defour, Walters, and Aaron Lennon all doubts for the fixture
Burnley will set up to minimise damage in the game and will look at the spark, which led to their recent victory over Spurs as a motivation to get a result.
Potential Liverpool Starting XI: Alisson, Robertson, Matip, Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Keita, Mane, Firmino and Salah
Potential Burnley Starting XI: Heaton, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Hendrick, Barnes and Wood
Head To Head
- Liverpool 4-1-1 (Last six)
Key Stats & Facts
- Liverpool are undefeated in their last 35 home matches in the league.
- Liverpool have been winning at the break and final whistle in 14 of their last 20 at home.
- Liverpool have netted three or more in six of their last seven at Anfield.
- Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in their last four at home.
- Liverpool – 2/11 Skybet
- Draw – 15/2 Betfair
- Brighton– 21/1 BetVictor
The book is based around Liverpool having little but no chance of losing with 96.50% of the book apportioned to the home side and BetVictor are 28/1 ON that Klopp’s men avoid defeat here. With a Champions League second leg tie on Wednesday evening, they are firmly in the balance with odds compilers in qualifying.
Burnley to approach this game have to consider that the home side are not going to go all guns blazing despite failing to score in three of the last five games.
As stated on #ThePuntersPodcast, I agreed with the panels view that Liverpool will win, especially Jordan’s view that they will back themselves to get a clean sheet and win 2-0, which is around the 6/1 mark. I was tempted by Tom’s selection of Liverpool win and under 3.5 goals, which is as big as 6/5 with Boylesports and Sporting bet. This has featured in half of Liverpool’s home games, which may be seen as a smidgen of value. It is noteworthy that 60% of Burnley’s away games have resulted in fewer than four goals irrespective of the result.
It is undeniable that Liverpool are effective at the back, and taking the win to nil is no bigger than 5/6 in places, which appeals. One bet that does appeal is, that if Liverpool set up and the corner lines go as expected, the Bet365 multicorner market, which is set at 24.5. This market for those unknown to this is that the line is multiplied by both sides’ corners awarded. Liverpool at home have passed the 24.5 line in four games at home this term and if Liverpool reach their line of over 7.5 and Burnley at 2.5 that still adds up to 24.
