Germany appear to be back to their old selves ahead of their trip to face the Netherlands.

The Netherlands’ hopes of topping the group will be seriously hindered should they be beaten by Germany. A 2-1 loss to France began their UEFA Nations League tournament off to the worst possible start and this wasn’t helped by the other result played out in the group.

Germany managed a 0-0 draw with current World Cup champions France, proving why the former won the competition back in 2014. This year, however, resulted in a disappointing early exit for the reigning champions.

One win out of three saw Germany out the competition as early as the group stage, losing against both Mexico and South Korea, either side of a 2-1 victory over Sweden. Since then however, Germany have recorded that impressive result against the French before beating Peru 2-1 with arguably their second team.

The Netherlands had an even worse world cup having not qualified at all for the competition. They have since managed to mirror Germany’s result against Peru, a 2-1 victory, just their first victory in four matches including 1-1 draws against both Italy and Slovakia as well as that defeat to France.

The Verdict

At odds against, there's no more intriguing bet for me than Germany to win. The Germans held their own against France where as Netherlands fell short in their meeting with the French.

Keeping France goal-less over 90 minutes proves enough about this German defence that it will be able to keep out this Netherlands side.
