Juventus’ unbeaten start to the new Serie A season continued at the weekend with a routine victory over Lazio and have scored five goals in their first two fixtures.
As for Parma, they have started the season with one loss and one draw and are still adjusting to life back in Italy’s top-flight after a three-year absence, in which they have gained three consecutive promotions.
Massimiliano Allegri is still finding the best way to bed in Cristiano Ronaldo, who is yet to find the net for his new club. Allegri is expected to bring back both Douglas Costa and Paulo Dybala to the attack after dropping them both last weekend.
Parma looked like getting off to a winning start in their opener against Udinese, before surrendering a 2-0 lead and being left with just a point. They struggled to create against SPAL but looked solid enough and were only un-done by a special Antenucci strike in a 1-0 defeat.
They will be backed brilliantly at home and the atmosphere will be something they will look to try and intimidate Juventus with. However, it is difficult to see how Parma will hurt Juventus going forward and whilst Gervinho adds some quality going forward, the likes of Bonucci and Chiellini should have a relatively comfortable afternoon.
Juventus start as heavy favourites at 2/9 so we will have to be looking at heavily favouring Juventus here for any sort of value. Parma struggled against SPAL going forward and with the defence Juve possess, you would think Juventus winning and keeping a clean sheet will certainly be what Allegri wants and expects.
Juve -2 at 6/4 looks a decent price here given Parma are a promoted side and Juve are what they are. With Costa, Dybala and Ronaldo, Juve should be able to rack up a few goals against an ageing Parma defence.
Gervinho looks set to make his Parma debut here, whilst Amato Ciciretti and Jonathan Biabiany are sidelined through injury also.
Max Allegri looks set to again make changes and Dybala and Costa look set to come back into the starting eleven.
Potential Parma Starting XI: Sepe; Iacoponi, B. Alves, Gagliolo, Gobbi; Grassi, Stulac, Barilla; Di Gaudio, Inglese, Da Cruz
Potential Juventus Starting XI: Szczesny; Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi; Douglas Costa, Dybala, Ronaldo
Head To Head
- 44 matches played
- 9 Parma wins
- 13 draws
- 22 Juventus wins
Key Stats & Facts
- Juventus have lost just two of their last 25 away games in Serie A.
- Parma have not won a Serie A match since 2015.
- Parma – 22/1
- Draw – 13/2
- Juventus – 2/9
As mentioned, Juventus are heavy favourites and the chances of Parma getting anything from this game are almost nill. Parma will be backed well by the home support and whilst they managed to secure a point against Udinese and only conceded one to SPAL, Juve are a completely different animal. Juventus have only lost two of their last 25 away matches in the league and I expect Juve to make it three wins from three this weekend with a comfortable victory.
