Dean Smith takes charge of his 3rd game for Aston Villa on Friday night as they head to a QPR side in decent form. Smith oversaw a debut win at home to Swansea but then lost at Norwich midweek.
Villa certainly have the stronger squad than their counterparts here, striking options of Tammy Abraham and Jonathon Kodjia are arguably two of the best in the league. However, it may take a while for the new gaffer to get his ideas and ethos across.
QPR started the season in woeful form but have picked up of late taking 10 points from a possible 12 in their last 4 fixtures. They’re playing as a more cohesive unit these days and have stronger options up front since bringing in Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells. Luke Freeman has the craft to unlock defensive in attacking midfield and defensively they’ve been sound with three clean sheets in their last 4.
Albert Adomah is ruled out for this clash but Yannick Bolasie is back in the reckoning for the visitors. John McGinn is back from suspension too.
QPR have no new injury concerns.
Potential QPR Starting XI: Lumley, Rangel, Lynch, Leistner, Bidwell, Wszolek, Luongo, Cameron, Freeman, Eze, Hemed.
Potential Aston Villa Starting XI: Nyland, Hutton, Chester, Tuanzebe, Taylor, Jedinak, Hourihane, El Mohamady, Grealish, El Ghazi, Abraham.
Key Stats & Facts
- Aston Villa have failed to win in their last 6 away games.
- Villa manager Dean Smith hasn’t won away in his last 9 matches.
- Aston Villa have lost 11 of their 13 games in London.
- QPR – 7/4
- Draw – 23/10
- Aston Villa – 17/9
QPR are in fine fettle at the minute and have improved all over the park. I’m keen to side with them here, especially given Villa’s poor record on the road.
We can back QPR off a scratch 0 start on the asian handicap at 19/20 and that appeals. This bet works the same as the draw no bet market meaning if it ends all square our stakes are returned, if the hoops win they we win a full stakes payout.
