Separated by just 3 points Scotland’s biggest rivals come face to face once again, with 2nd place Rangers hosting top of the League Celtic. Celtic will be looking to resurrect their league form coming into the game with just two wins in their previous 6 league games (W4, D1, L1).
Rangers have been a strong outfit at home this season, losing just one game at the Ibrox this term, coming against Aberdeen in Round 16 earlier in December. Celtic are the league’s top scorers with 46 goals so far, it really does set this game up to be a thrilling encounter.
Both teams have prolific frontmen in Alfredo Morelos and Scott Sinclair, with Morelos currently topping the scoring table with 12 goals to his name. Celtic offer a variety of goals scorers with winger James Forrest and second striker Edouard also boasting 17 goals between them.
It sure will be set to be a feisty encounter with the teams going full force to try and dominate Glasgow. The recent four games have seen 25 cards between the pair, aswell as 15 goals. It is for sure one of the highlights of the season.
For the home side Graham Dorrans is still out with a Knee injury, along with Jamie Murphy who has been out most of the season. Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and McAuley are all still a doubt for the game.

Key Stats & Facts
- Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premier League on 42 points, with Rangers just behind on 39, however it has to be said that Celtic do have a game in hand.
- Rangers are enjoying one of their best starts to an SPL season under new manager Steven Gerrard, unbeaten in their last 5 SPL games.
- Celtic have won their last 3 games on the bounce, scoring at least 3 goals in all of them.
- Rangers 11/4
- Draw 13/5
- Celtic 10/11
Rangers are no longer the pushover they recently have been for Celtic under Gerrard, illustrated by the gap at the top, which is the smallest it has been between the two for many years. Gerrard has injected new life into The Teddy Bears and I expect that to be on show in the game, as Rangers will seek to end their 6-year streak of failing to beat Celtic.
Rangers themselves have benefited hugely from being devastating in the first half of games, in fact 33% of their home goals have come inside the first 15 minutes. I would expect Celtic to come out firing early on too so early goals are on the cards.
