Sampdoria v Fiorentina Betting Preview, Odds, & Tips
- Date: 19/09/18
- Time: 18:00 pm
- Venue: Stadio Luigi Ferraris
Serie A fans get their first taste of midweek action this season after the postponement of this fixture in round 1, following the Genoa tragedy.
Sampdoria have had a very impressive start to the new campaign; they currently sit fifth on the table with the game in hand and have an outstanding goal difference of +7. Forward duo Gregoire Defrel and Fabio Quagliarella have combined for six goals already this term, along with two assists, so the Viola will have to be at their best to stop the Blucerchiati’s potent strike force.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina currently sit sixth – on equal points with Sampdoria – and a win would see them leapfrog their opponents. They lost 1-0 at Napoli on Saturday after an impressive start to the season. Stefano Pioli will be instructing his men to play through the wings, and the Viola’s pace will undoubtedly be their greatest channel come Wednesday. Federico Chiesa and Marko Pjaca have impressed for Fiorentina so far this season, so this will make for an intriguing game between two very attacking teams.
Sampdoria will be without Vasco Regini and Dennis Praet due to knee injuries while attacking midfielder Riccardo Saponara is another notable absentee for Marco Giampaolo’s side.
Fiorentina almost have a clean bill of health for the match as their only absentee is Alban Lafont, who battles a hamstring injury.
Potential Sampdoria Starting XI: Audero, Bereszynski, Andersen, Tonelli, Murru, Ekdal, Jankto, Linetty, Caprari, Defrel, Quagliarella
Possible Fiorentina Starting XI: Dragowski, Milenkovic, Pezzella, Vitor Hugo, Biraghi, Veretout, Benassi, Gerson, Chiesa, Pjaca, Simeone
Stats & Facts
- The two teams have met 129 times, with Fiorentina taking the three points 46 times, while Sampdoria have won 36 times and there have been 47 draws.
- The last four games between these two sides have ended with three or more goals.
- Fiorentina haven’t beaten Sampdoria at the Marassi since 2015 – a 2-1 win where interestingly no player from that starting XI remains at the club.
- Sampdoria – 15/8
- Draw – 9/4
- Fiorentina – 31/20
As aforementioned, both of these teams have very good attacking firepower. Sampdoria’s potent attack will need to be contained if Fiorentina are to take the spoils from the match. Inversely, Sampdoria’s defence will have to deal with the counter attacking pace of Chiesa and Pjaca.
188 Bet currently have odds of 10/11 for Over 2.5 goals in this match – a smart bet considering the high-scoring matches these teams have produced of late.
