Swansea and Cardiff face each other in the league for the first time in five seasons in what is sure to a fiery affair. Both sides come into the game in poor form having not won in 3 games.

Swansea started the season in great fashion and were unbeaten up until the middle of September. Since then they have won just 1 game in 8 attempts and they haven’t been as good in front of goal as they were before that first defeat in September. Their last game saw the Swans have 17 goal attempts but just 5 of those were on target. Their game against Barnsley saw 8 shots on target but just 1 goal scored. The Swans could come good against Cardiff who have conceded at least 1 goal in their last 3 games.

Cardiff have found life difficult in the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League last season. Warnock’s men haven’t picked up an away win this season having lost 3 and drawn 4 games in all competitions. They have a poor defensive record on the road as well. 15 of the 19 goals that Cardiff have conceded this season have come away from home.

Team News

Cardiff will be without Isaac Vassell and they have doubts over Matthew Connolly

The Verdict

This game should be typically fiery with both sides desperate to get their season back on track. Swansea started the season so well but have dropped off thanks to their wastefulness in front of goal. They have a big chance to find the back of the net here against a Cardiff side who have conceded 19 goals this season which is not something I expected under Warnock’s management at this level.

I think both sides will sense that this is a great opportunity to win and I think we could see goals at both ends. Both teams to score is 4/6 (William Hill) and I think this has a great chance of coming in. This bet would have landed in 2 of Swansea’s last 3 home games and it has landed in Cardiff’s last 3 away games.

I think this game will be aggressive like most derby matches are and I like the look of Marlon Pack to be shown a card at 13/5 (Skybet). Pack is a good midfielder for this level, and he’ll be tasked with keeping things ticking over. However, Pack does pick up a lot of cards, he picked up 11 in 46 league games last season and he has 2 in 8 games this season.

Another angle I like is for Cardiff Striker, Danny Ward, to find the back of the net at any time in this match. Ward has 4 goals in his last 5 games for and he has started the last two matches so I think Warnock will be looking to start his inform striker. Ward is 12/5 (Bet365) to find the net at any time in the match.

As I said before I think this game could be an entertaining one and the sideline will also be one to watch with Warnock most likely taking center stage once more.
