It would be the greatest of escapes if Huddersfield could do the unthinkable and survive the drop. The Terriers are rooted to the foot of the table with 14 points from 30 games, a massive 16 points off safety, they're planning for life back in the Championship.
West Ham on the other hand have started to pick up of late, they look a much more settled and well rounded outfit, a far cry from their erratic early season form. Defensively they have improved and with the promising Declan Rice shielding a back four that includes the talented Issa Diop it's no surprise.
The Hammers have been much more comfortable at their new home, they're without a loss in their last 5 at the Olympic stadium. Conversely, Huddersfield are terrible on the road with just one win to their name. They've also lost 7 and drawn 1 in their last 8 away games.
Manuel Lanzini being back fit has given the hosts a real lift, he adds creativity in the attacking midfield role.
Manuel Pelligrini is still without the services of Andy Carroll, Andriy Yarmelenko, Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere. Fabian Balbuena is a doubt.
Huddersfield have a lengthy injury list and they come into this one without Isaac Mpenza, Adama Diakhaby, Danny Williams, Jonathon Hogg, Laurent Depoitre and Terence Kongolo.
Potential West Ham Starting XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Ogbonna, Diop, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Anderson, Lanzini, Arnautovic.
Potential Huddersfield Starting XI: Lossl, Smith, Zanka, Schindler, Durm, Stankovic, Mooy, Billing, Pritchard, Grant, Mounie.
Key Stats & Facts
- Huddersfield have lost 15 of their last 17 games.
- Huddersfield have failed to score in their last 5 away fixtures.
- There have been under 2.5 goals in Huddersfield's last 4 games.
- Under 2.5 goals has landed in 5 of West Ham's last 6 games.
- West Ham are undefeated in their last 5 home games.
- West Ham – 3/5
- Draw – 16/5
- Huddersfield- 6/1
The Hammers should have too much here for lowly Huddersfield. The respective home/away form lines suggest a comfortable home win, possibly to nil.
Going along these lines I'm happy to bolster the 3/5 quotes on the hosts by throwing in under 3.5 goals which boosts it to a much more appetising 6/5 with Betway.
