An out-of-form Wolves side host Chelsea tomorrow night, with both sides eager for the three points.

Chelsea’s defeat to Spurs the weekend before last now leaves them seven points off Manchester City and five away from second placed Liverpool. They need a win here to ensure they don’t fall further behind the leaders and Maurizio Sarri’s men will be confident of earning the win against a Wolves side who are in dismal form.

Nuno Esporito Santo’s men have lost five of their last six games and surrendered a 1-0 lead away at Cardiff last weekend, to lose 2-1. Conceding two to Cardiff outlines their issues and with the likes of Eden Hazard in their ranks, Chelsea could enjoy themselves.

Having said that, Chelsea have not always looked at their best this season and the 2-0 win over Fulham was a slightly lacklustre performance. It seems to be that if Hazard is not firing, they struggle, and without a quality striker, goals are sometimes an issue.

Wolves’ troubles in the attacking areas are also a big concern. They have 13 this season in the league, one of the lowest records in the division, and are really lacking a goal scorer. Nuno has tried a few options upfront, but none seem to be working, and you wouldn’t be too keen on backing them to score here.

Wolves’ best bet is to go at this Chelsea side and apply plenty of pressure, just as Spurs did against them. If Wolves allow Chelsea plenty of possession and let the likes of Jorginho and Kante control the midfield, they could find this very difficult.

Despite their loss to Spurs, Chelsea have looked a solid side this season and whilst they have not wowed anyone, they consistently pick up three points and you would fancy them to continue that here.

Team News

Jonny remains out of contention with injury, while Ruben Neves is suspended after picking up too many bookings.

Ross Barkley missed the win over Fulham, and is a doubt here, whilst Victor Moses is also unlikely to play. Marcus Alonso has a back issue and is also a player who could miss this game.

Potential Wolves Starting XI: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Moutinho, Gibbs-White, Vinagre; Jota, Bonatini, Cavaleiro

Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek; Willian, Morata, Hazard

Head To Head

  • Historically, Wolves have the upper hand, having beaten Chelsea more times than the Blues have beaten them. However, Chelsea have won nine of the 10 matches these two sides have played in the Premier League era.

Key Stats & Facts

  • Wolves have lost five of their last six league games.
  • Chelsea have won seven of their last 10 away league games.
  • Wolves have failed to score a goal at home in three of their last five at the Molineux.

Betting Odds

  • Wolves – 4/1
  • Draw – 11/4
  • Chelsea – 6/7

The Verdict

Chelsea have their problems going forward and were found out big time against Spurs, but this game should provide them with a good chance to get another three points.

Wolves are in terrible form and are struggling to find goals so the 6/7 available on Chelsea looks good enough to take on here. Chelsea have the pressure of needing to win to keep up with the leaders and Wolves need to stop this rut, so both teams should be going for three points.
