With the international break taking place punters may well look to delve into the lower leagues for value, this televised clash could be one that does so. Ebbsfleet and Gateshead are both locked in mid-table on 14 points from 9 games with an identical W4, D2, L3 record.
Ebbsfleet have some good striking options with the likes of Danny Kedwell, Corey Whiteley and Michael Cheek, all regular goalscorers at this level. They're a threat. Last season Fleet had a penchant for draws, even managing to draw 7 consecutive league games through October and the 11/4 on a stalemate could be of interest for those who back historical data. However, it looks like one side in Ebbsfleet have added more quality and depth to their squad, whereas the opposite can be said for the visitors.
Gateshead aren't in the greatest of form at this minute winning just one of their last 6 games after collecting maximum points from their opening two. Away from home the Tynesiders tend to struggle, winning just one of their last 12 on the road and that makes their price of 16/5 justified in my eyes. Gateshead will try and take a point here but an early Ebbsfleet goal will mean the ‘Heed' will have to open up and attack with greater intensity.
Myles Weston and Ebou Adams are on international duty and will miss out for the hosts. Dave Winfield is also doubtful with a hamstring problem. Kenny Clark is unlikely to be fit in time for this encounter.
Gateshead have been without top scorer Luke Armstrong for the last two games due to a hamstring and he could miss out again. Ex-Newcastle centre half Mike Williamson is struggling for fitness, as is Cameron Salkeld and Scott Barrow.
Potential Ebbsfleet Starting XI: Ashmore, Rance, Magri, Bush, King, Coulson, Shields, Powell, McQueen, Kedwell, Whitely.
Potential Gateshead Starting XI: Pears, Kerr, Devitt, Tinkler, Olley, O'Donnell, White, Molenyeux, Rigg, Mellish, Boden.
Head To Head
- In the 8 games where these two have met, Gateshead have won just 2, drawing 1 and Ebbsfleet have won 5.
Key Stats & Facts
- Ebbsfleet's 5-2 victory against Gateshead last season was the heaviest defeat they fell to in the 17/18 campaign.
- Ebbsfleet – 10/11
- Draw – 11/4
- Gateshead – 16/5
Ebbsfleet did some canny business in poaching Corey Whitely from a Dagenham & Redbridge side that's been in turmoil. He's bagged 4 goals already this season and he has the running power to get past this Gateshead defence. He scored last time out at their home ground and at 2/1 he looks good value to add to his tally.
Ebbsfleet don't look a bad price just shy of evens but I'm not sure their defence can be trusted to keep Gateshead out. Mind you, in the six games they've conceded in, each time it has been a solitary strike. This regularity with which Fleet concede just once could make the 10/3 on a home win and BTTS attractive for punters.
