Everton host Chelsea in a game where the Toffee’s are fresher from the gap between games. They play a Chelsea side, which played in Ukraine 72 hours prior and did a job over Kiev to power through to the last eight of the Europa League.
Everton to their own standards have been pretty appalling at home this season failing to notch up one victory in 2019 on home soil and will look to keep this game tight. However, the potential quality differences could be the driver to frustrate the blues and will look to keep the game narrow with their set up.
Kurt Zouma is confirmed as unavailable with Mina likely to get the nod.
Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka are possible doubts and may settle for a place on the bench with Morgan Schneiderlin and Andre Gomes potentially in the starting eleven
Gonzalo Higuain is unlikely to be fit to start and will probably not be named in the squad against Everton. Olivier Giroud added credibility to hopefully make the first eleven.
Eden Hazard, Jorginho and David Luiz should all feature with Pedro and Ross Barkley also likely to start on Sunday.
Potential Everton Starting XI: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Gueye, Gomes, Bernard, Siguardsson, Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpillcueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Barkley, Jorginho, Kante, Hazard, Giroud and Pedro
Head To Head
- Everton 0-2-4 (Last six)
Key Stats & Facts
- Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in five of their last six against Everton and undefeated in their last six in all competitions.
- Chelsea’s away results have ended with three or more goals in nine of the last eleven.
- Everton – 16/5 BetVictor
- Draw – 14/5 Bet365
- Chelsea – 99/100 Marathonbet
The match odds have Chelsea just a shade under even money and on the basis of past results as well as recent Everton results is fair. The Blues will have the chance to mount a challenge back into the top four and more importantly the Champions League spots with a win here. With Chelsea in the last eight of the Europa League, feel that their priority is to make the top four, but will have the Europa League as their back up plan.
By taking this opportunity to go within a point of Spurs in third, in the knowledge Everton have won just one of their last six in the league and one in eight at home punters will be confident on the away win.
Feeling that the momentum at Goodison is not great statistically the visitors should have the depth to take the points here. Despite the away game on Thursday, should have better match sharpness. Everton will be difficult to breakdown, but demonstrate that conceding in ten of their fifteen home games. Chelsea have netted in ten from fourteen on the road and kept a clean sheet in five of those matches.
Both sides to score in this is as big as 4/5 with Betfred, with over 2.5 goals at even money with Betfair. The Chelsea win and both to score is over 3/1 with Marathonbet, which may appeal and win to nil less appealing at 5/2.
Taking the Chelsea win at 99/100 represents a fair chance and believe if they fail to win will only damage their chances to finish inside the top four with a handful of games left.
