Ladbrokes and Coral are both set to extend their best-odds guaranteed offer on all over-the-counter bets to betting shops on UK and Irish racing from Monday.
Ladbrokes & Coral To Offer Best Odds Guaranteed In Shops
The firms are looking to boost their betting shop business following recent FOTB stake cuts which will see betting firms enter a fresh era. Consumers of both firms will be able to take full advantage of the latest offer from 8 am every day as long as they have a Coral Connect card or a Ladbrokes Grid.
With the FOTB cuts going ahead from April 1, it has been estimated by GVC that close to a 1,000 of their shops may be forced to close.
PR director Simon Clare was full of optimism with the new proposal, revealing (via Racing Post): “This is the biggest racing offer ever to hit the high street, and is a clear signal of our intent as we face up to a new era for betting shops from April 1.
“There is no question that a seismic change in our betting shop business is going to occur when the FOBT stake restrictions come into force, but we are now taking pre-emptive action with the launch of this significant betting shop offer, which will boost our horseracing business and also our betting shop footfall as we prepare for the challenge ahead.”
While it looks to be a good move, it has been met with some ‘too little too late' comments from many punters who think the offer should've come around earlier.
One Twitter user Jimmy Smith (@smirkey1872) voiced his frustration stating: “It's only taken long enough. #MissedTheBoat.”
While Marc (@marcrozier1) said: “Yes, this is hardly new as BetFred have been offering this for donkies years, it's about time these small bookies like Labcrocks caught up with the modern times.”
Despite it looking like a smart move on paper, the general consensus is that the move has come far too late with it not really tempting people to swap from their regular firms.
