It is crystal clear to see for anyone that is interested in football that Real Madrid are going through a transitional stage and are really struggling to nail down any consistent form. Many expected that the re-appointment of Zidane would fix all of this, however it is now more potent than ever that the problems clearly lie much deeper than this. Since Zidane’s re appointment Madrid have W5 D2 L3, which isn’t acceptable for the Galacticos.

The game really has very little significance, with neither team able to improve their finish to an extent it will achieve anything. Madrid can’t actually finish anywhere other than 3rd, with a 10 point gap above Valencia in 4th and a 7 point deficit to Atletico. Betis on the other hand could possibly move up a place or two but would need a substantial victory here due to their poor goal difference. Then can however be over taken by 3 teams and could drop from 10th to 13th if everything went against them.

Real Madrid will be hoping to end the campaign on a high, as it looks like it could be the last for many of the players. Modric looks ever closer to a move away and it looks as if they have also finally given up on Gareth Bale. Varane is also rumoured to be wanting a move away from the club. Betis could also struggle in summer as their little playmaker Lo Celso has impressed on multiple displays the season, and with the young Argentine only 23 there will be plenty of clubs sniffing around.

Team News

Ramos is Madrid’s main absence, and it’s fair to say he has been missed during his spell out. Ordriozola is also out with injury. Casmeiro and Vallejo are both out with suspensions for the final game.

Betis are missing key man Joaquin due to a suspension, so is likely to be replaced to ex PSG man Jese. Barragan and Canales are also both out with injuries.

Potential Madrid Starting XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Nacho, Varane, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Benzema, Bale, Junior

Potential Betis Starting XI: Robles, Junior, Feddal, Bartra, Guerrero, Guardado, Carvalho, Jese, Lo Celso, Tello, Loren

Head To Head

  • Betis have only beaten Madrid once in the last 10 meetings between the two.
  • Madrid have won these ten games on an aggregate of 31-10.

Key Stats & Facts

  • Both teams to score has landed in 5 of the last 6 meetings.
  • Betis have been losing at half time in their last 4 matches, and have gone on to lose all 4 at full time.
  • 13 of the last 16 meetings have featured over 2.5 goals.

Betting Odds

  • Madrid 6/11
  • Draw 4/1
  • Betis 19/4

The Verdict

I would expect Madrid to come out on top here, given realistically there is little to play for in the case of both sides, and Madrid have a far superior squad. One single that looks good on the stats is the half time/full time market, for Madrid to be winning at the interval aswell as the final whistle. Betis have been behind at half time in their last 4 away matches, and have gone on to lose all 4 of them.
