Chelsea have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League while Vidi must better FC Bate’s result to follow in the Blues’ footsteps.
That’s because Vidi currently sit in third place, but are level on points with FC Bate. It is likely Vidi will need a win, however, with FC Bate facing bottom side PAOK. Another stat to go against Vidi is that Chelsea have won all their fixtures so far
Conceding just one goal and averaging two a game, Vidi are really up against it against an also currently in form Chelsea side.
Despite losing 2-1 against lowly Wolves, Chelsea have won their past three matches. Their latest, a 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten Manchester City in the Premier League.
The previous result between these two sides was 1-0 to the hosts on that occasion and came in the second round. This time is different with Chelsea topping the group regardless of the result.
Vidi have a full squad available.
Mateo Kovacic limped off against Man City with injury and is doubtful for Chelsea.
Potential Vidi Starting XI: Tujvel, Stopira, Vinicius, Juhasz, Fiola, Nikolov, Nego, Hadzic, Milanov, Hustzi, Scepovic
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Arrizabalaga, Emerson, Christensen, Cahill, Zappacosta, Loftus-Cheek, Fabregas, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud, Willian
Head To Head
- These two sides have met just once before, the previous meeting in this year’s competition, finish 1-0 to Chelsea.
Key Stats & Facts
- The previous result was 1-0 to Chelsea.
- Chelsea have already qualified for the knockout stages.
- Chelsea have won all five of their fixtures in this competition so far.
- Vidi 99/20
- Draw 149/50
- Chelsea 7/10
Even with Chelsea already through to the knockout stages, I expect a few of the fringe players, such as Loftus-Cheek, to come in and try to impress and go for the win.
Having only conceded once all competition and due to the fact that I don’t expect much threat from the opposition, Chelsea should not only win this fixture but rather comfortably.
