Popular Bets for Snooker International Championship

The Snooker International Championship, like all snooker tournaments, opens up many betting opportunities. Below we have listed a few of of the top snooker betting options.

Outright Winner

There is nothing more to this bet than a punter selecting a snooker player to win the tournament and putting some money behind their pick. If the player wins the tournament, punters get paid in relation to the odds or price of their selection.

Match Win Bet

Match win bets are bets made on the outcome of a single match of snooker between two players. There are no ties in snooker, so there are only two outcomes: win or lose. This also makes it a good game for arbitrage betting.

Frame Win Bet

In a snooker match, it all boils down to frames, which each refer to a single game of snooker. Each match consists of a predetermined number of frames, and whoever of the two players wins the most frames also wins the match. Bookmakers allow bettors to bet on the outcome of each frame or even how many a player will win during a match.

147 Bet

A 147 is the maximum break in snooker. This rare occurrence is achieved by sinking all 15 reds with 15 blacks for 120 points, followed by all six colours for a further 27 points. Bookmakers will offer odds on a 147 occurring over the duration of a tournament.

Tournament Structure for Snooker International Championship

The tourney ranks at the same level as the UK Championship and has the third highest prize fund and winner's cheque of any ranking event on the snooker calendar, after the World and UK Championships. Matches are played as best of 11 frames until play reaches the semi-finals, which are played as best of 17 frames. The final is played as a best of 19 frames.

History of Snooker International Championship

The event was introduced in the 2012/2013 season and was the fifth ranking event held ever in China. From its very beginning, it was the highest paying tourney taking place outside the UK and was christened the first overseas major. Englishman Judd Trump won the inaugural event in 2012 Chengdu, China. In 2015, the event moved to the Baihu Media Broadcasting Centre in Daqing in the north east of China where it is still held today.
