Arsenal will be looking to establish another winning run in their fixture against a Brighton side struggling for form themselves.

Arsenal’s unbeaten run extended to 22 matches before they were outscored 3-2 against Southampton and then their loss in the North London Derby knocking them out of the carabao cup. It was back to normality in their most recent fixture, however, as they overcame lowly Burnley 3-1 to put them back in the chase of those above them.

London rivals Chelsea who sit in fourth place are tied on points with Arsenal (5th).

The home side haven’t won in three matches either. Their latest defeat was a 2-0 defeat to in-form Bournemouth, following a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea and 1-0 loss to Burnley.

Notably, Brighton have scored just a single goal during these previous three matches. It’s worth pointing out that top scorer, Glenn Murray, has failed to score from open play for five matches.

Team News

Brighton: Wingers Jose Izquierdo and Alireza Jahanbakhsh are both ruled out due to injury.

Lewis Dunk was sent off against Bournemouth and will therefore be suspended for this match.

Arsenal: Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Emile Smith Rowe, Hector Bellerin and Shkodran Mustafi are all missing because of injuries.

Herikh Mkhitaryan and Sead Kolasinac are both doubtful with knocks.

Potential Brighton Starting XI: Ryan, Bernardo, Balogun, Bong, Montoya, Propper, Locadia, Bissouma, Gross, Knockheart, Murray

Potential Arsenal Starting XI: Leno, Kolasinac, Monreal, Papastathopoulos, Lichtsteiner, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Head To Head

  • Arsenal currently hold bragging rights with eight victories to Brighton’s three.

Key Stats & Facts

  • Arsenal have scored 2+ goals in six of their last nine fixtures.
  • Brighton have failed to keep a clean-sheet in eight matches.
  • The home side have found the net on just a single occasions throughout their previous three matches.

Betting Odds

  • Draw 149/50
  • Arsenal 8/11

The Verdict

I expect Arsenal to win comfortably here with Brighton encountering their own winless run of late. The home side have been struggling in defence while Arsenal’s attack almost got them out of the defeat to Southampton and has been their trademark this season, so I expect plenty of goals.
