Roma travel to Empoli on Saturday night as they look for their third successive victory heading into next week’s international break.
Eusebio Di Francesco’s men come into the match off the back of a huge 3-1 Derby della Capitale win over arch-rival Lazio last weekend. It was a fantastic performance by the under-fire Giallorossi, who look to have rediscovered form. Midweek, they crushed Czech champions Viktoria Plzen 5-0, thanks to an Edin Dzeko hat-trick that left many awestruck. It was coincidentally Edin Dzeko’s second hat-trick against the side, as he hit a treble against them two years ago in the Europa League. Nonetheless, the striker looks to have rediscovered last season’s form, and his side are reeling with confidence at the moment after an early-season crisis. A win here, depending on results elsewhere, could ultimately put them inside the top four, so a big performance is needed by Di Francesco’s men come Saturday.
Meanwhile, Empoli haven’t endured the best of returns to Serie A action so far. Last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Parma was their fourth of the new campaign; their only win came on the opening match day. They have only found the net five times so far this season, compared to their opponents 14. The Tuscan outfit will surely be looking to keep it tight in defence as they have only conceded two goals at home this season so they will try to frustrate the Giallorossi in their defensive third.
Empoli are missing Manuel Pasqual and Luca Antonelli due to injury, therefore Aurelio Andreazzoli is expected to name Frederic Veseli at left-back.
Roma, however, are going to be without Javier Pastore after the Argentine suffered a calf injury in last week’s win. Diego Perotti could return to the Giallorossi lineup following a short stint on the sidelines.
Potential Empoli Starting XI: Terracciano, Di Lorenzo, Silvestre, Maietta, Veseli, Acquah, Bennacer, Krunic, Zajc, La Gumina, Caputo
Potential Roma Starting XI: Olsen, Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Luca Pellegrini, Nzonzi, Cristante, Under, Lorenzo Pellegrini, El Shaarawy, Dzeko
Key Stats & Facts

Judging by their recent form, it is hard to go past Roma here. In their last three games, they have scored 12 times and Di Francesco will be expecting another goal fest.
