Bottom of the league Fulham, host 10th placed Wolves on Boxing Day, with both sides looking to earn wins for different reasons.
Whilst Fulham managed a draw away at Newcastle at the weekend, they remain bottom of the league, four points from safety and are now without a win in five league games.
Claudio Ranieri’s side have won just twice this season but face a side they played last season in the Championship, and beat at home, so will be confident of earning a much-needed win to move them off the bottom.
As for their opponents, Wolves’ winning run was ended on Friday evening to league leaders Liverpool, but Espirito Santo’s side showed in the first half that they are capable of causing any team problems. They start at 7/5 here, which is an inviting price given their form and their opponents troubles.
Both sides are in relatively good health and in the past, this fixture has provided goals. Four of the last six have seen at least three goals and Fulham have conceded the most goals in the league this season with 42, averaging out at 2.3 goals per game. Wolves just need to be more efficient in the final third and they will be able to breach this Fulham defence with relative ease.
Fulham will see this as an opportunity to gain three points, whilst Wolves will also look at the fixture and believe a win is well within their reach.
Ryan Sessegnon could make a return to the starting 11 but Andre Anguissa is out of this game through injury. Maxime Le Marchand could also start, after returning to the bench against Newcastle after a spell out with injury.
Diogo Jota missed the visit of Liverpool at the weekend and is not expected to be fit enough here either. Nuno Espirito Santo, otherwise, has a full squad to chose from.
Potential Fulham Starting XI: Rico; Odio, Mawson, Marchand; Christie, Seri, Chambers, Bryan; Vietto, Mitrovic, Cairney
Potential Wolves Starting XI: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Saiss, Neves, Jonny; Costa, Jimenez, Cavaleiro
Head To Head
- Wolves are unbeaten in 90 minutes against Fulham in nine of their last 10 meetings, but Fulham did beat Wolves last season in the Championship at home.
- The H2H record currently reads 42 matches played, with 11 Fulham wins and 20 wins for Wolves with 11 draws.
Key Stats & Facts
- Fulham have failed to win a league game in 14 of their last 15 matches.
- Wolves have won three of their last four Premier League games.
- Fulham – 23/10
- Draw – 12/5
- Wolves – 7/5
Fulham are conceding goals for fun this season (42 in 18 league games) and given their average of 2.3 goals a fixture, Wolves to score 2+ goals at 11/8 looks decent value, especially given that Wolves have scored 2 or more in three of their last five Premier League fixtures.
Wolves are not keeping many clean sheets at the moment, it has to be said (just two in their eight away games in the league this season) and Fulham do carry a threat going forward, even if they are extremely leaky at the back. Both teams to score’ at 4/5 looks good value on the back of those stats and I think we can expect a relatively open and attractive game of football here.
