Real Madrid face Real Betis looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Real Sociedad. Madrid have a been underwhelming in the league this season and find themselves in 5th place in La Liga 10 points behind leaders, Barcelona. They have struggled on the road this season as well conceding 18 goals away from home, which is the second highest in the league. In contrast to this, Los Blancos have only conceded 5 at home. Their leaky defence has only kept one clean sheet away from home this season. However they have scored 2 or more goals away from home in 14 out of their last 21 top-flight matches.
Real Betis will fancy their chances of being able to find the back of the net on Sunday night and they are currently on a 4 game unbeaten run at home. They have kept 3 clean sheets in that time and scored 7 goals in the process. Both teams to score in this game doesn’t hold much value for the punter at 10/17 (RedZone). I would be more inclined to side with goals in this one. Madrid have amassed 11 goals in their last two visits to Betis and their recent away form has only seen them lose to Eibar in all competitions. Coral have gone 2/1 for Real Madrid to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match which would have landed in 3 out of the last 4 meetings between the sides.
Madrid are likely to be without Gareth Bale on Sunday evening and his absence will put more pressure on Karim Benzema to grab the goals. Luckily for Real Madrid, Benzema has a very impressive record against Betis. The Frenchman has 7 goals in 10 games against Betis and he is the leading scorer for Madrid. He is 33/20 (888sport) to score at any time in the match and he is also 11/2 (BoyleSports) to score first. I like this bet as it’s a great price and I also think that it will be more likely to see Madrid score first in this match. Betis have failed to score inside the first 15 minutes of any La Liga match and 73% of their goals have come in the second half. Los Blancos have a leaky defence but there attack is the 5th best on the road. I’d feel confident in Madrid taking the lead in this one and I’d hope that it’s Benzema who puts them in front.
Sidnei is out for the Real Betis. Junior Firpo is a doubt.
Thibaut Courtois is sidelined with an injury for Real Madrid. Marcos Llorente, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos are also out. Lucas Vazquez is suspended.
Potential Real Betis Starting XI: Robles, Barragan, Mandi, Bartra, Guerrero, Canales, Lo Celso, Guardado, Joaquin, Sanabria
Potential Real Madrid Starting XI: Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Casemiro, Ceballos, Modric, Benzema, Vinicius, Isco
Head To Head
Betis have won just 2 of the last 10 top-flight head to head games held here.
Key Stats & Facts
- Real Madrid haven’t had a goalless draw on the road since December 2017.
- Real Betis 9/4
- Draw 11/4
- Real Madrid 11/10
It’s fair to say that Real Madrid haven’t been at their best this season and backing them away to a decent side like Betis is a bit of a risk.
However, Los Blancos have to start winning soon and even with a couple of key players missing they still have a very strong side.
Their recent record at Betis will fill them with confidence of getting a win in what could be an end to end game.
